In celebration of Earth Day we’ve found this neat design treasure to appeal to your visual and environmentally conscious senses! The Woven Car was created by Ann Conte and Jeanne Wiley from recycled and leftover materials. Conte and Wiley took an early-model 1960’s MG Midget that was collecting dirt in their back yard and transformed it into a beautiful work of art by weaving overstock car seat belt material (500 yards approximately) to create a hatched woven cover for the car, which they then bolted on to the metal frame. The interior is made of partially-recycled material called Corian Terra (DuPont). In fact Dupont had donated the material to the artists after hearing about this project!
The vehicle is now on display as part of a new exhibit at the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset, MA, along with a number of other Mixed Media pieces.
